Andrew Yates

SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST

Andrew Yates is a Senior Research Scientist at the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam and a Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. Andrew received his PhD in 2016 from Georgetown University. He has co-authored a variety of papers on neural ranking methods as well as a book on transformer-based neural methods: “Pretrained Transformers for Text Ranking: BERT and Beyond.” His research focuses on developing content-based neural ranking methods to improve search and downstream tasks in challenging scenarios.
