Language Technology Program Coordinator

The Johns Hopkins University has an immediate opening for a Language Technology Program Coordinator at the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence (HLTCOE). The incumbent will focus on organizing programmatic deliverables related to language technology research to meet contractual requirements. This includes informational events on HLTCOE research and other research-related customer deliverables. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and initiative while performing duties requiring a passion for improving language technology.

The Johns Hopkins University Human Language Technology Center of Excellence (HLTCOE) is a world-class research center creating advanced techniques for analyzing a variety of video, image, speech, text, and document image data in a wide variety of diverse languages. Established in 2007, the HLTCOE is home to a growing group of outstanding research scientists and graduate students who utilize state-of-the-art technology to address unique and exciting challenge problems.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organize the logistics for 3 annual workshop events. These include identifying the venue, sending out invitations, advertising, post-event follow-ups, and management of interactions with attendees.
  • Organize, prioritize, and track the daily operations of the HLTCOE Data Annotation Program. This involves close interaction with researchers to identify resources, schedule annotation training, and meet deadlines. Manages the resources needed to complete the annotation efforts. Provides status and metrics on the annotation efforts.
  • Manages the publication review and submission process for the customer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Experience leading small teams.
  • Demonstrated aptitude with the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills, including the ability to effectively and concisely present information.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage numerous tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Evidence of a passionate commitment to the full range of tasks required for an organization to perform successful research and technology transfer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
  • Five years related experience.
  • Foreign Language Expertise
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related Master’s preferred.

Additional Information

  • Candidates for consideration must be eligible to work in the Unites States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • The position is full-time. Occasional telework is permitted.
